Set up Aweigh by creating an account with your email address. Your preferences stay set up, and you can add or change vessels and locations at any time.

Create an account and set your home port
Aweigh works without an account, but everything personal about it starts here.
- Open the app and choose Create account.
- Enter an email address and a password, then confirm your address from the email that arrives.
- Add your favorite locations in the “My ports” section with City, State, and select one of them to be your home port.
- If you are near a tide station Aweigh uses that location for accurate weather and tide information. Otherwise Aweigh uses your actual position, and tides may not be available there.
- Your home port is remembered each time you sign in to your account across all devices.
Add a vessel and set your limits
This is the section that makes every rating personal.
- Go to your account, then “My vessels”.
- Add a vessel or type of boat and give it a name you will recognize at a glance.
- Set the max sustained wind you are comfortable going out in. Aweigh derives the gust cap from it.
- If the vessel needs wind to move, set a minimum wind speed as well.
- Set the chances of precipitation that you will accept.
- Add additional vessels and set those comfort thresholds.
- Mark one vessel as your default and the forecast opens there.
Read the verdict, and find out why
The stamp is the answer. The explainer is the why.
- Open the forecast. The stamp at the top is the rating for the selected vessel for the day, or parts of it, as of now.
- Tap the GO/NO-GO stamp for further explanation.
- It also shows you the selected vessel and the limits you set for reference.
Use the hourly forecast to find your window
The weather could be fine right now, but will it hold long enough to get back?
- Tap each hour section for more weather details.
- Note where the clear run starts and where it breaks. That is your window.
- Check the day band above for sunrise and sunset along with high and low tide markers.
Put Aweigh on your home screen
App Store: Coming Soon. Until then Aweigh installs straight from the browser in about ten seconds, and opens like any other app.
- Open app.aweighweather.com on your phone, or scan the QR code in the footer of this page.
- On iPhone: tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen.
- On Android: open the browser menu, then Install app or Add to Home screen.
- Open it from the icon. Now it runs full screen with no browser bar and acts like any other app on your device.
